The Analogue Revolution

So I have further dove into the analogue revolution recently. After stopping at a random estate sale we found this old typewriter for $1. Feeling like we had nothing to lose we purchased it thinking if it didn’t work we could at least use it for decor. However, we found ourselves surprised to find out it was actually still fully functional. I had ordered a replacement ink ribbon, expecting the old one to be dried out. It was only after toying around and giving it a quick clean with a can of compressed air, that the remaining ribbon was still pretty decent.

This lead me further into the rabbit hole and inspired my wife to take me to our local craft shop for more supplies. I picked up a few cheap journals, some stamps, and gathered some random stickers i’ve collected over the past 2 years. Moreover no longer than after my first day of making my first journal with this typewriter the Youtube algorithm had a video by Peter Mckinnon whom with his video has apparently sparked others to do the same.

Though it appears like I would simply be jumping in on this band wagon. The sense of discovery in starting this journey with my found treasuer on my own seems diminished. On the other hand it is pleasing to have the sense that others are out there rediscovering a more analogue creative outlet. This is after all how I came back to shooting film again. For now all I can do is continue my journey into the analogue world and simply find joy in putting down my phone.
